Kaitlyn Rene

September 23rd, 2008

Coleena Bobeena names original pieces after the person for whom the original is intended. This is a limited edition piece and we are absolutely thrilled that it will forever be known as “Kaitlyn Rene”. What an absolutely lovely name. It truly fits, don’t you think?

Pssst… we know a little something of the love story behind this very special purchase… shhhh… we aren’t telling though. Maybe some day the beautiful lady whom this piece adorns will be so kind as to share a picture or two with us and perhaps her story.

To be continued (we hope)…

Luscious Little Giveaway

February 13th, 2008

As taken from Nissa’s Niceties:

“To celebrate my new look and etsy store Luscious Little Treasures I am giving away one of my Beautiful Boutique Ballerinas. It’s art. It’s a hairclip holder. It’s one of a kind. I will custom make a Ballerina (or you can pick a ready made from my shop) for the lucky winner. You pick the colors, you pick the details. What a great gift for a special princess, whether it be a daughter, a granddaughter, a niece, or yourself!

To enter: Please take a look at some designs in my shop and leave a comment on this post telling me your vision for a stunning Ballerina. You don’t have to be a blogger, but make sure you leave a valid email address or a way for me to contact you if you win. For a second entry- blog about my contest, and leave a second comment with the url.

This contest will close on Monday, Feb. 18th at midnight EST. Then, depending on the # of entries, a name will be picked out of a hat, or a winner will be picked by random number generator.”

Quirky Confessions

February 11th, 2008

I wish I had remembered to put this up sooner! I am a bad bloggy friend. This clever idea is brought to you by Amanda of Shamelessly Sassy.

1. I obsess when I think someone doesn’t like me. I have to be liked. It drives me insane! Is that quirky?

2. I cannot read a magazine until I have torn out all of the little inserts to subscribe. Those things drive me nuts!

3. I pick up everything with my toes. I will try several times before I’ll actually hand-pick up whatever I can’t pick up with my toes… or leave it where it is.

4. I cannot stand the feeling of someone stomping on the floor or jumping in the house where I can feel my derrière vibrate. It’s like nails down a chalkboard to me.

5. I will blurt out words and phrases to shock myself out of obsessive thoughts. I have our family counselor from when I was 19 to thank for my impulsive tourette episodes. (It works though, I must admit!)

6. I sometimes believe myself to be psychic.

And that’s all the kookiness I feel uncomfortable sharing at the moment.

Favorite Resources

January 9th, 2008

I’m just sharing some sites I have grown to love in my search for cost-effective ways to get the word out about my site and product. I’m always interested in learning of more so please do drop me a line and tell me what I’ve been missing!

1. WordPress (http://www.wordpress.org or http://www.wordpress.com if you’d like them to host a free blog for you) – This blog would not be possible without them. I love the control I have. (I have control issues. Didn’t you know?) I love all the bells and whistles – there’s too many from which to choose! I also love that there is a sense of community among WordPress users. Have a question? You’ll find the answer or at the very least someone to point you in the right direction.

2. GoDaddy (http://www.GoDaddy.com) – I have an addiction to buying domains. I often buy them only to let them sit until it is time to renew and then I experience agony over having to relinquish ownership because it costs almost $10 a year for each one. I realized quickly that this little hobby is expensive!

3. osCommerce (http://www.oscommerce.com) – I started my business using web carts that charge a monthly fee and where I appreciated the ease of use, often the bells and whistles I wanted were considered add-ons and were simply too expensive. I got my feet wet with sites like Homestead and Miva Merchant. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from giving them a try, especially if you are just starting out and know nothing about web design and shopping carts.

4. Statcounter (http://www.statcounter.com) – Now, I know there are a million-and-one sites out there that register site statistics for you. I am just partial to StatCounter because I’ve been with them since Day One and I find them so easy to use. Also, I can login to one site and view the stats of any one of my sites at any given time. It’s great.

5. Internet Archive (http://www.archive.org/) – Oh my goodness. How many times have I had to use this site to recover a post or picture because I’ve decided to move a blog here or there and didn’t backup the stupid thing before deletion? (Dork!) You can look at your site’s history and see how far you’ve come. Try it. It’s addicting though so beware!

6. CheckYourLinkPopularity (http://www.checkyourlinkpopularity.com/) – How many links do you have compared to your friends and competitors? Hmmm? Just download this to your desktop and find out!

7. Stumbleupon (http://www.stumbleupon.com) – I can get lost stumbling for hours! There are some amazingly creative and articulate people out there. I find something every time I stumble that benefits me in some form or fashion. Really. And some of the best feedback I have ever received regarding my own site has come from Stumblers. Plus I get a lot of traffic from Stumbleupon as well. It’s a win/win situation.

8. Core FTP Lite For Uploading files and graphics I use Core FTP Lite (http://www.coreftp.com).

9. Irfan View For minor graphic alterations such as sizing or making a background transparent, I use Irfan View (http://www.irfanview.de/). It’s not limited to just those two tasks. That’s just what I use it for most often.

10. ColorPix I love, love, love ColorPix. It’s a fun little tool. Sometimes I want to grab a color off an image and I just can’t seem to get it right. I’ll just use ColorPix (http://www.colorschemer.com/colorpix_info.php) to isolate it. It gives you color’s Hex or RGB value! How easy is that?!

11. PHP Designer 2007- Personal For editing PHP, CSS, and HTML code, I use PHP Designer 2007 – Personal (http://www.mpsoftware.dk/phpdesigner_personal.php). This program is so straight forward. I cannot tell you how much time this program has saved me.

My Epiphany

January 2nd, 2008

Shouldn’t we be making New Year’s Affirmations instead of New Year’s Resolutions? It’s my understanding that the mind takes in the messages you send it and then works to make those messages reality. Some people use visualization in the same way, letting the mind’s eye work toward achieving the specific goal depicted.

Given the fact that I tend to make New Year’s Resolutions every year (often repeating them), perhaps I have been going about this the wrong way. Perhaps I should be stating my goal as it has already happened.

Goodness, just about any self-help book you read talks about affirming the positives you want to see in yourself. I even read a book once that talked about how Jim Carrey (before he became famous) would keep a check in his wallet that he wrote to himself for a million dollars just so that he could often look at it. It sounds a bit like brainwashing to me but hey I’m game! **Franticly searches for checkbook**

Okay. So it does sound a bit hokey as I sit here typing out my random thoughts on the subject. Still, I know from my own personal experience that if a person tells herself something long enough she begins to believe it. I think the principles I am talking about here work in the same way. Hokey or not, it’s worth it to me to give it a try. I mean, what have I got to lose?

I affirm that I am a punctual, non-procrastinating, even-tempered, charitable billionaire sex kitten/jewelry goddess. :P
