I cannot remember how I first happened across Shano’s Online Studio and I cannot tell you the first image I fell in love with. I can tell you I have spent countless hours since then just going from image to image getting lost in

the colors…

the facial expressions…

the svelte figures…

the settings…

Choosing a favorite from Shano’s Collection is near impossible. I could not do it. Instead, I commissioned her to create something special for Coleena Bobeena. (Those who have purchased Coleena Bobeena pieces will recognize the ‘Bling’ Divas.)

Shano brought the ‘Bling’ Divas to life for Coleena Bobeena over four years ago. I did not know exactly what to expect when I first contacted her. I simply expressed how much I enjoyed her art and that I was in awe of her talent. Shano responded in kind with some lovely compliments about my jewelry. I was touched and smitten even more to find Shano was so approachable and obviously a woman of great taste.

Our history is much deeper than a few kind emails exchanged between us. Honestly, Shano took me under her wing and I learned so very much from her. She taught me about taking one’s art and making a living doing what you love. She shared her trials and errors, her knowledge and experience. She even shared pieces of herself and of her family. (The stories she would tell truly had me laughing out loud. She has a magnificent sense of humor.) And she would listen intently as I shared mine. (Turns out she’s a wise soul when it comes to matters of the heart as well.)

As I look back to remember what brought me to call Shano my friend, I am moved by the realization that I am forever changed by her selfless, giving nature. It is that same spirit that encourages me to support my fellow Independent Artists today. It truly is only fitting that April’s Featured Independent Artist be Shano. Unbeknownst to her, she truly did start it all.

Sweepstakes Details

All of this reminiscing made me want to visit Shano’s Online Studio with new eyes. You know, just as many of you will be viewing it for the first time with this introduction. I thought how fun it would be to make my own personal Shano wish list. What would I covet for myself if given the chance?

Well, one of the first things I noticed is that Shano now offers checkbook covers. Already I see my wish list is going to be rather short…the first two things I wanted to add to my wish list I purchased!

What actually did make it to my wish list?

It’s now your turn to visit my dear friend’s online studio: Art by Shano. I love this part: Tell me what you would have as your own if given the chance. Pick your three favorite prints. (Yes, I know this is going to be very difficult. I couldn’t even limit myself to three.) I would also like to know how you would prefer your print to be displayed: On Mouse Pad? Tote? Or do you prefer the Print itself? Perhaps you fancy the Handbags, Bookmarks, Note Cards, or Checkbook Covers? Simply let us know by sending a quick email with your picks to sweepstakesentry@coleenabobeena.com. This will be your entry into our Independent Artist Wish List Sweepstakes. Three winners will be drawn and will receive one Shano goody from their Wish List. (Sweepstakes ends June 15. Open to residents of the U.S. and Canada 18+.)

Just as soon as I said the name { August Lately } aloud, it was as though it had existed all along. Perhaps I used the word “re-invention” too hastily. I believe Georgia Hadley’s decision to transition from Adorneya to { August Lately } is more about nurturing, trusting and, well, breathing.

Georgia has evolved Adorneya’s initial focus of Handcrafted Jewelry to one that includes Handmade Handbags and Paper Goods now found with { August Lately }. Adorneya? { August Lately }? It matters not, Georgia’s artistic fingerprint remains the same: Simple Elegance…

Independent artists put heart and soul at the forefront with each ware designed, perfected and created. When those artists take their passion to the next level and offer their masterpieces to the world, their business becomes another work of art in and of itself. That theory is very much illustrated with what Georgia has done with Adorneya. She has taken her vision’s design and is presenting it to the world polished, poised, and perfected…

Welcome, { August Lately }.

We have not yet begun to explore why I have chosen Georgia Hadley as February’s Featured Independent Artist. I watched my focus change from wanting to feature her Art to one wanting to applaud her intuition and her foresight. Even with that, I cannot touch on why she deserves recognition. (I am sorry, Georgia, this review does not do you justice.)

You simply need to take a moment and visit her online boutique, { August Lately }. It will not take you long to start to get the point I have so ill-oquently missed here. She deserves your notice, I assure you.

Sweepstakes Details: Once you do take the time to visit her boutique, send a quick message and tell us: What are your three favorites of Georgia’s offerings? (You can send your picks to: sweepstakesentry@coleenabobeena.com) Please, be specific. This will be your entry into this month’s Sweepstakes Drawing. Three readers will receive one item from their { August Lately } WishList. Sweepstakes ends February 28th.
