If you had read my About Me page almost five years ago, this is what you have seen:
“Jewelry design is as distant from court reporting as Oz is from Kansas. The ‘tornado’ which pitched me into jewelry design was not very different from Dorothy’s, although my house was not dropped on a wicked witch, it was dropped on my husband…
The road to healing and self-discovery is not paved with yellow bricks; for me, it is paved with Gemstones, Swarovski Crystals, Freshwater Pearls, laughter, courage, and an unyielding faith. What began as an escape, evolved into an artful expression, speaking volumes to the ol’ adage, “Life imitates Art.”
The creation of jewelry is symbolic of what should happen after a ‘tornado’ has moved into the path of one’s home: Pick up the pieces, mold, twist, and shape to create something spectacular, stronger, and even more beautiful than with what one began.”
Yup, I dropped a house on my (ex-)husband. Wicked to the core, he was certainly worthy of such a fate. It was by his deception that jewelry design found me. Struggling with how to explain the whos, whats, wheres, and whys about my business, I decided to try my hand at being cleverly evasive. Well, at the very least I got a nice chuckle from it. And then Amanda of Lucky Guppy came to my rescue and wrote the lovely piece you now see on my About Me page.
So, why am I bringing this up after all this time? Because I would like to share my story with you. I am no longer ashamed or embarrassed. I am empowered and I hope my struggle (and ultimate triumph) will benefit others.
